Dan Reitz is a musician and educator based in New York City.
He is the musical director behind the acclaimed improv musical comedy shows Your Love, Our Musical and Baby Wants Candy. For his work with Baby Wants Candy, Broadway Baby recently called him "truly a musical genius." Dan has taught at Princeton University and the New York Film Academy and is currently on the music faculty at Collegiate School in New York City. His music has appeared on This American Life and on web series for Comedy Central.
Dan has a Bachelor's degree in music composition from Syracuse University and a Master's degree in education from the University at Buffalo. His primary interests as an educator are jazz performance, harmony, music analysis and ear training. He has performed and taught musical improv comedy workshops at festivals throughout the world including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Williamstown Theater Festival, the Del Close Marathon in New York City, and the Summer Improv Medley in Washington, DC. As a trombonist his credits include performances at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Blue Note, Smalls, and at swing dances up and down the East coast.
You can see him most Wednesdays performing with Vern at the Peoples Improv Theater, and throught the city with tons of comedy and musical theatre shows.
